During the initiatives developed by the Radicepura Garden Festival, we decided to organize – thanks to the collaboration with the Department of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences (Di3A) of the Catania University – a Summer School about: Mediterranean Productive Garden: realizations in urban area. The initiative aims to be a first answer to the highly felt need of education in garden design in the Mediterranean environment. With an approach fully focused on learning by doing, the course faces the current and complex subject of design of green areas, characterized by full compatibility with the surrounding environment and able to offer ecosystemic services, of which modern cities are in more and more desperate need.
